The VALIDATE handbook
This is the second version of The VALIDATE handbook: An approach on the integration of values in doing assessments of health technologies, which is the first handbook that addresses how to integrate empirical research (‘facts’) and normative inquiry (‘values’) when assessing health technologies. The handbook is directed to anyone who wants to understand, initiate, or broaden and deepen their knowledge and skills to be able to conduct an integrative HTA. Therefore, the targeted audience is broad, including Master / PhD students in the area of HTA, health policy and management, health sciences and biomedical sciences, national/regional/academic HTA researchers, public health professionals, industry, health services researchers and policy makers.
This handbook has been reviewed by the Scientific Development and Capacity Building (SDCB) committee of HTAi, and based on their feedback it has been updated.
This handbook is published by Radboud University Press, and is available on their website both as a free download and a paid paperback edition: https://radbouduniversitypress.nl/site/

Consensus statement
This is a statement that reflects the view of the consortium members involved in the VALIDATE project regarding the key tasks of health technology assessment (HTA) and the type of knowledge and skills that those who have an interest in HTA need to develop in order to further enhance HTA’s scientific rigor and policy relevance.
